TRAVEL INFORMATION
DEPARTURE: Saturday, July 18th @ 3:00pm – Please report to the Lifehouse at 3pm. We will distribute t-shirts and check-in. At 4pm, we will attend the 4:00pm Mass and this will be our Farewell Mass with a blessing at the conclusion. We will have dinner at 5pm and board buses after dinner. It is expected to be an 18-hour bus drive (including stops). Expected time of arrival at St. Paul’s in Greensboro is noon on Sunday, July 19th.
RETURN: Late Saturday, July 25th/Early Sunday, July 26th @ 3:00am – We will depart Greensboro on Saturday at 9am. This will put us back in Dedham at approximately 3:00am on Sunday morning (Saturday evening).
PACKING LIST, addendum
In addition to the CHWC supplied packing list, please take special note and pack the following:
Water bottle (use a reusable water bottle as water is provided throughout day)
Safety goggles/protective glasses
Work gloves
Pair of jeans
Sunscreen
Insect repellant
Backpack/small bag for carrying shower items & a clean set of clothes
Ear plugs (especially if sensitive when sleeping to snoring, etc)
Rosary
Bible
Bathing suit
Sweatshirt (the facility is air conditioned)
Spending money – missionaries are responsible for approximately 6 meals on their own (2 on way down, 3 on way back, 1 on free day). There is also a CHWC store that you may purchase items at (sweatshirts are $30, t-shirts are $15-$20).
When packing clothes for the day, please keep in mind you will be wearing old work clothes for Monday-Thursday. Then you will want to change into clean clothes after your afternoon showers. So, please pack accordingly. Friday is our free day.
Rule about Cell phones/iPods:
We will follow the rule with CHWC. iPods are only to be used at night when in sleeping quarters. Cell phones will be allowed but are to be kept in sleeping quarters and to be used only when needed. Please refrain from texting friends while on the mission trip. Your experience will be hindered when constant communication with those not on the trip are made a priority. We will keep a locked box with Core if missionaries would like to lock phones up so they are protected.
